Many of our valued clients ask about the specific differences between the various insulation materials. Below is a brief summary of each option.

Insulation Materials:
Cellulose: Cellulose insulation is composed of bits of recycled newspaper shredded, and then blown in a cavity to insulate the area. Cellulose insulation is very efficient, and extremely Eco-friendly. Its R-value of 3.4 per inch installed, is higher than that of fiberglass and it also costs less to install. The most common applications for cellulose insulation are attic spaces, and walls. Cellulose insulation works as a sound barrier, is fire retardant, and moisture resistant.

Spray Foam: This type of insulation is by far the most efficient. Spray foam insulation is organic based which makes it environmentally friendly and spray foam produces zero negative off gasses. This type of insulation contains a very high R-value of 7.0+ per sq. inch. Green Space Construction specializes in the installation of spray foam insulation. It can be used in a variety of spaces due to its small footprint. The benefits gained from installing rigid foam board (polystyrene) in specific applications can be extreme, providing you with substantial energy savings.

Fiberglass: Fiberglass insulation is the most common insulating material found in homes today. Fiberglass insulation is comparable in price to cellulose, but unfortunately, not as efficient.Fiberglass insulation can be applied to attic spaces, walls, and crawl spaces. Fiberglass insulation can also be used as a sound barrier, and is fire and moisture resistant.
